Summer has faded and given way to fall. The Autumn Equinox is a day when the light and the dark are equal and a reminder to balance the light and the dark within you.
There is a lot of focus these days on shadow work, healing trauma and bringing the dark into the light, which is needed for self-awareness and growth but…
all of that focus in one direction leaves you dwelling on all that went wrong, living in the dark and feeling nothing but the pain.

It’s important to give yourself grace allowing the moments of light to filter through. Bring the times of joy and positive experiences with you as you traverse the shadows of your healing journey.
It’s easy to ignore the good, to leave the happy times behind when working to heal childhood wounds. Don’t let yourself forget…the smiles, the laughter, and the love.
There are lessons in it all. Carrying the joy along with the pain leads to a shift in perception and perspective. Understanding that healing happens when you accept all emotions. Allow yourself to feel all of them and know every emotion plays a part in your journey.
“Once we resolve to see clearly how things are, the process of healing – a word that, at its root, means ‘returning to wholeness’ – can begin.” Gabor Mate´, MD from the book The Myth of Normal – trauma, illness & healing in a toxic culture.
You can carry more than one emotion in your heart at a time. It’s ok to grieve a loss and still find laughter. You are allowed to process trauma and also see the beauty all around you. That’s what life is all about.
This human life. To feel all the feels. You can’t every really know joy if you never know sadness. Just as you can never truly know love if you don’t allow yourself to feel the pain.
Finding balance. Harmonizing with the nuances of life. Not sitting in just one emotion for too long. Allow the energy – e-motion = in motion – to move through you.
Be Well. Find Joy. Live Love. ~ Deanna
