October is Here

Can you believe its October already. Summer is gone. Autumn has arrived. Days are shorter. Leaves are changing. Temperatures are cooling.

And before we know it, the holidays will be upon us.

This can evoke a plethora of emotions.

The holidays look different for all of us and are a mixture of feelings, beliefs and memories that run the gamut of emotions from one extreme to the other.

and sometimes all at the same time. It can be overwhelming.

It’s ok to feel all the feels. to not always be excited or joyful for the holidays. to allow yourself moments of grief or sadness if that’s what comes up.

And also, give yourself permission to be joyful and happy if that’s what the holidays bring to you. Let go of the guilt for being happy around those who don’t find the joy you do.

Respect other’s thoughts and emotions this time of year.

For some, it may be time to let go of past generational traditions that don’t resonate. Or to let go of the responsibility of family obligations that don’t feel good.

Allow yourself to pause. give yourself grace. move with compassion and do what YOU feel is best for YOU and your immediate family.

Listen to your gut (intuition). Start new traditions.

But most importantly, love yourself through it all.
